Now I know what some of you are already thinking...
Free fingerstyle guitar tabs I love sharing tabs of my fingerstyle guitar arrangements! Tablature is a great way to learn songs on guitar without needing to read music (though my tabs do include staff notation, as well). Classical guitar sheet music in PDF format with notation and TAB plus Video Performances. Fingerpicking Jazz Standards (Notes + TAB) – some good.
I agree that it's far better to learn by ear, but if you just wanted to play songs as is, then I don't see the harm in using tablature. It's also just a generally good resource to have if you catch yourself in a rut.
Anyway, there's this website. It might look very sketchy at first, but I reassure you that it is not. It's an extremely large collection of fingerstyle arrangements of mostly jazz standards and pop songs that are available to download for free. No charge. No catch. I've personally scanned each file I've downloaded and have come up with no problems whatsoever.
All of the tabs come available as software that play like this; it allows you to see dynamically the finger placement and chord name on the fret board. But if that's not your style, then you can view the text version of the tablature. And if you'd rather learn by ear, most of them have YouTube links and MP3 available as well.
My only gripes is that the site is not organized well and it doesn't have its own search function. However, you can go to Google and type 'site:www.lickbyneck.com 'song name' in the search bar to have Google search the site for a specific song for you.
I recommend doing the following to get a good understanding of how the site works:
Go to the website.
Go to 'Solo Guitar' in the upper left hand portion of the screen.
Choose a section. Any section.
Under the 'Songs' column, click on the name of a song.
Find the .rar in your downloads folder and extract it anywhere.
Run the program.
Now that you have a general idea of how it works, you can use Google to search the site for a specific song as aforementioned or do what I did: download them all!
NB:your virus scanner might warn you that the program is trying to access the internet, but it's only to enable the ad that leads back to the site
Finally, if you can spare it, it's very easy to donate to the site. Don't wait for the next person to do it.
